My Story
Austin Hunt is the Artistic Director of Houston Boychoir. He also serves as Music Director of HopePointe Anglican Church in The Woodlands, TX. Prior to joining HBC, Mr. Hunt was the Artistic Director of the Luminari Boys Choir and directed middle school choirs throughout the North Houston area. His award-winning choirs are consistently recognized for excellence, with distinctions including “Grand Champion” and “Best in Festival”.

In addition to directing choirs, Mr. Hunt is also a published composer of choral music, with multiple titles available through Alfred Music, Carl Fischer Music, and Choristers Guild. His work is being performed by school, university, and church choirs across the country. Mr. Hunt’s arrangement of the spiritual “Woke Up this Mornin” was awarded the J.W. Pepper Director’s Choice Award for Most Popular Choral Title of 2023.

Mr. Hunt is an operatic tenor, with credits including Tamino in The Magic Flute with Sam Houston State University, tenor soloist in Messiah with The Woodlands Symphony Orchestra, “Nessun dorma” from Turandot with Kingwood Pops Orchestra, and multiple seasons with the Houston Grand Opera Chorus, including HGO’s productions of Lohengrin and Aida. He also appeared alongside world-renowned soprano Melanie Holliday as part of a benefit concert for the Rita B. Huff Humane Society, performing “O suave fanciulla” from La Bohéme.

Mr. Hunt holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Sam Houston State University. When not living the busy life of a musician, he enjoys studying WWII history, playing tennis, and traveling.
