Austin Hunt
Artistic & Executive Director
Austin Hunt is the Artistic & Executive Director of Houston Boychoir, where he leads the organization and conducts the HBC Chamber Choir. He also serves as Music Director of HopePointe Anglican Church in The Woodlands, Texas.
Before joining Houston Boychoir, Mr. Hunt was Artistic Director of the Luminari Boys Choir and directed middle school choirs throughout North Houston. His ensembles earned consistent recognition for musical excellence, receiving honors including “Grand Champion” and “Best in Festival”.
In addition to his work as a conductor, Mr. Hunt is an award-winning composer and arranger whose music is published by Alfred Music, Carl Fischer Music, and Choristers Guild. His compositions and arrangements are performed by school, university, and church choirs across the United States. His arrangement of the spiritual Woke Up This Mornin' received the J.W. Pepper Director's Choice Award as the Most Popular Choral Title of 2023.
Mr. Hunt is an operatic tenor who has appeared as a guest soloist with several symphony orchestras and has performed leading operatic roles, including Tamino in The Magic Flute. His credits also include multiple seasons with the renowned Houston Grand Opera Chorus, appearing in productions such as Lohengrin and Aida.
Mr. Hunt holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Sam Houston State University.
