Houston Boychoir Alumni
To be an alumnus of Houston Boychoir, to have been a Singing Boy, is to have shared in a unique experience, a great musical adventure. As a singing boy, we received a music education like no other. We attended twice weekly rehearsals, performed hundreds of times at concerts, at weddings, at funerals, at grocery stores, at amusement parks, in operas, with symphony orchestras and more.
As boys, we were scrutinized for our discipline and decorum, we learned that our actions speak louder than words; we enjoyed friendships as we experienced the beginnings of independence. As a singing boy we took pride: in belonging to an organization with high standards, in working hard, in our academic excellence and learning at a young age what it means to be a professional.
Our world-view expanded during our travels as singing boys. The world took on new perspectives and we learned to look beyond ourselves when we saw the faces of all of the people who were transformed by our singing. It is these shared adventures and education that carried us from boyhood to manhood and connects us to each other from generation to generation.
Today, as Men, we come together to:
– Sing at Spring and Winter Concerts
– Volunteer at rehearsals or workshops
– Be a role model or a mentor
– Share our business or technical expertise
– Serve on the Board of Directors or
– Donate Money in order to ensure the legacy of the experience of Houston Boychoir and the Singing Boys of Houston.
We invite you to be a part of this legacy! If you are a former Singing Boy of Houston or Houston Boychoir member, we would love to be in touch with you. Please contact us to learn about upcoming Alumni networking and performance events and join us in our work of Building Men of Character.
